Trump trolls months-old Rosie O'Donnell tweet about Comey

Despite scandal over his firing of James Comey, President Trump has Rosie-tinted glasses.

Trump replied to a months-old tweet from actress Rosie O’Donnell on Thursday afternoon, giving his explanation for sacking the now former FBI director a surreal twist.

“We finally agree on something Rosie,” he said in response to a December post from O’Donnell when she advocated for putting Comey out of a job.

Rosie’s tweet on Dec. 20 came as response to criticism of Comey for his handling of the the Hillary Clinton probe, particularly the decision to “reopen” the investigation less than two weeks before the election because of emails that ended up on disgraced pol Anthony Weiner’s computer.

Ex-Nixon staffer says Trump Comey claims shows he broke protocol

Trump has repeatedly surfaced comments critical of the FBI Director since the surprise firing shocked the country on Tuesday night, with suspicions that he had been terminated for the investigation into links between the President’s campaign and Russia.

The White House cited a recommendation to Trump from Deputy Attorney General Ron Rosenstein mentioning the Clinton probe handling as a reason to get a “fresh start” after Comey, but Trump later changed his explanation on Thursday and said he had always planned on giving the director the boot.

Trump’s mentioning O’Donnell may seem ridiculous given the historical weight of the present moment and what is presumably a busy schedule.

But the former reality TV star has repeatedly resurrected his old tiff with her, especially in times of trouble.

Poll: Trump’s approval numbers fall to near-record lows

At the first Republican primary debate in 2015, Trump brought the “The Rosie Show” comedian up when Megyn Kelly called out his comments calling women “dogs” and “slobs.”

He again mentioned O’Donnell as “very vicious” against him when Clinton brought up the same comments at a debate in September.

It was not immediately clear how Trump found the December tweet, which had received only a small amount of retweets and likes before Thursday.

O’Donnell responded a half hour after Trump’s jab by referencing Comey and saying “he shoulda been fired when he threw the election – we see his motives now – TRUMP IS DONE 4 good.”

“It is a clear indication of his seriously declining mental health. this is no joke america,” she later added.
