Sara Sampaio Shares Her Beach Beauty Tips

  •  Sara, 25, detailed her pre- and post-beach beauty routine
  • Shop products she never leaves for a beach vacation without from brands like Moroccanoil and MAC

For model Sara Sampaio, who has starred in Victoria’s Secret swim specials and graced the pages of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issues, the beach is practically her office.

So with a season of sand and sun ahead of us, who better to ask for beach beauty tips?

At an event celebrating Moroccanoil’s new range of sun care products this week in New York City, we chatted with Sara, who is the brand’s beauty ambassador, about how she preps for a beach day, takes her look from sunny days to steamy nights, nails vacation Instagram photos and more.

Mix and match it up in Tori Praver Swim like Sara

Sara is a beach expert so who better to look to for swim inspiration than the model herself.

Earlier this year, she snapped a pic in this adorable Tori Praver mismatched set. Tori Praver Swimwear is the namesake label from the model herself. Praver grew up on the beaches of Maui, and after becoming a model, saw a gap in the market for amazing swimwear inspired by her love of the beach.

Celebrity fans include Jessica Alba, Megan Fox and LeAnn Rimes to name a few. Sara is the latest star to fall in love with the designs.

While her workout routine is consistent year round (for her, it’s always bikini season), Sara, 25, makes tweaks to her diet and beauty routine to ensure that her skin and hair are as healthy as possible before being exposed to the harsh sun and sand for a photo shoot or a trip.

‘I cut down on sugar to make sure my skin looks flawless, and I exfoliate and moisturize and do a lot of deep conditioning in the hair so everything is in good shape,’ she said.

Once in paradise, she keeps her skin and hair in check with plenty of argan oil. ‘Especially if I get a burn, it adds the natural oils back to my skin,’ she said, adding that she loves to mix the Moroccanoil Pure Body Oil with her moisturizer or her foundation. ‘It’s a good base for anything.’

While sea salt from the ocean can give hair a sexy tousled look, she recommends rinsing strands after stepping out of the water because it can be drying and compromise color. To mimic that beach-y texture, she applies a dry texture spray into her naturally silky hair after the rinse.

Her day-to-night beach beauty routine is simple yet packs a punch. ‘I love the natural glow from the sun, so I tend to not cover it up at all. I try to just moisturize, add highlighter, a bright red lip and a lot of lashes,’ Sara said.

And as for taking a Victoria’s Secret angel-worthy Instagram vacation snap? She jokes that having an ‘Instagram boyfriend’ helps, but really, it’s all about confidence (‘Don’t think too much and try to be as organic as you can,’ she said) and the lighting.

‘When the sun is too high, it gives you weird shadows. When the sun is rising or setting, the shadows are in all the right places,’ she said.
