Cannabis retreat launches in California

  • The five-day experiential getaway was the brainchild of Sari Gabbay
  • Guests will take part in yoga, ‘plant-based ceremonies’ and ‘drum circles’
  • A firm that specialises in cannabis dining experiences has created a menu

At a new retreat in California guests won’t just wake up and smell the coffee – they’ll wake up and smell the marijuana, too.

As the legalization of non-medical cannabis spreads across the U.S. – one in five Americans now live in a state with legal recreational use – a wave of businesses are tapping into the trend, with weed-inspired yoga camps being the latest thing.

Next month, the newest cannabis retreat is set to take place in the picturesque town of Ojai, with five days of ‘plant-based ceremonies’, ‘creative visionary workshops’, ‘drum circles’, ‘psychedelic black light yoga’ and ‘cannabis tasting pairings’.

The experiential getaway – called ‘Cannabliss’ – was the brainchild of Sari Gabbay, who believes cannabis is not a drug but a ‘mood enhancing, mind expanding, plant medicine’.

Along with various ‘mind expanding’ and ‘body strengthening’ activities, food will be another big feature of the retreat.

GrassFed, a company which specialises in pop-up cannabis dining experiences, has created a colourful menu for guests to binge on along with Lauren Unger.

Apparently Lauren ‘infuses her farm-to-table style cooking with cannabis and reiki energy to assist in the opening of chakras so guests can begin to naturally heal there bodies’.

Holidaymakers are set to receive cannabis vaporizers to inhale different strains of the plant to complement each of the meal courses, according to LA Weekly

The menu will feature different strains of cannabis, with each having a different impact.

For instance, in the morning breakfast is set to include sativa strains, which apparently ‘boost energy and concentration’ for physical activities such as hiking or yoga.

In the evening, a microdose of indica promises to offer a peaceful night’s sleep.

Prices at the retreat start from $ 1,010 (£778) for space in a shared tent.
