Mets demote struggling reliever Hansel Robles, bring back Smoker

The Mets recalled lefty reliever Josh Smoker Tuesday. And in the surprise corresponding move the club demoted righty reliever Hansel Robles.

Robles has given up 15 earned runs in 21.2 innings of work this season. He has an ERA of 6.23 for a Mets team hit hard by injuries.

Robles has been roughed up in his last three appearances for the struggling ballclub as he has allowed 12 earned runs in just over two innings of work. He has also given up four homers in his last three outings (all Met losses), the only home runs he’s given up this season.

This is a developing story, check back for details
