Lionel Messi's look-alike has car impounded to avoid attention

An Iranian student has scored big time after getting a ton of media attention.

The reason? He looks exactly like Argentinian soccer star Lionel Messi.

Reza Parastesh, 25, an Iranian student, had to be taken to a police station over the weekend because scores of people wanted to take photos alongside the Messi doppelgänger.

This took place in the city of Hamaden. Police impounded Parastesh’s car and took him into the station so that they could “stop the chaos,” the BBC writes.

The frenzy began some months ago, when Parastesh’s father had him wear the number 10 Barcelona jersey and pose like the soccer star.

That’s when Parastesh began to cut his hair and trim his beard like the 29-year-old Messi — who’s often considered the best player in the world.

As the BBC notes, Parastesh told AFP: “Now people really see me as the Iranian Messi and want me to mimic everything he does. When I show up somewhere, people are really shocked.”

Since the imitation game began, Parastesh’s schedule has been filled with different media interviews. He’s even received modeling contracts, the BBC writes.

Now he just needs to step up his soccer game a bit — he has big shoes to fill. Messi has scored over 500 total career goals for both his South American country and his Spanish club.
