Clayton Kershaw bolts press conference for 4th of July fireworks

Clayton Kershaw flirted with a no-hitter on the Fourth of July, but the Dodgers ace had good reason not to stick around long enough to fully reminisce.

After the Dodgers’ 4-3 win over the Diamondbacks, the starting lefthander was taking questions from the media when he suddently had to jet.

“Oh, I gotta go — fireworks! I love you guys,” Kershaw said before running out of the room.

Kershaw’s no-hitter was spoiled in the seventh inning by Chris Owings. He finished with 11 strikeouts, two walks and two hits over seven innings, allowing zero runs.

The hurler also extended his streak of consecutive innings without giving up an earned run to 20, which has come since he allowed four home runs to the Mets in June.

“You guys kept telling me I was giving up so many homers,” Kershaw told the media after the game before later bolting, “so I tried to stop doing it.”
