BREAKING: Bomb scare at the Louvre as terror threat grips Paris on election day

The bomb threat forced French police to evacuate bystanders away from the area.

Police were seen cordoning off the courtyard outside the museum.

Reports suggest that French presidential hopeful Emmanuel Macron was planning to use the area for a celebration if he wins the election this evening.

Police are currently searching the Louvre for devices.

France is on high alert as the country takes to the polls to vote for either Front National’s Marine Le Pen or Centrist Mr Macron.

The country has been the target of a wave of terror attacks.


Journalists and photographers were told to leave the area as police sniffer dogs were deployed to search for explosive devices.

Bomb disposal units have now arrived on the scene to carry out further checks.
